So Excited to Meet You!
Hey there, I’m Jennifer. My husband, Zack, our Cocker Spaniel, Bandit, and I became full-time RVers in May, 2021, when we sold our home and everything in it, bought a fifth-wheel and new truck, and took off for the unknown. It’s been the best decision we’ve ever made! There have been those times, however, that have really tested our metal …and the RV’s as well!
Another Mile Marker Rolls Out
Another Mile Marker started as a way of journaling our travels, our experiences, and our growth as part of the full-time RV community. It is incredible how much there is to learn when getting started!
Fortunately, we had some good friends who had been part of the RV community for many years who gave us some invaluable advise to help ease our transition. We hope to pass along our growing knowledge (and lessons learned) to those of you who harbor this dream as we did. If we can do it, anyone can! It just takes determination and the willingness to jump in the deep end and worry about tomorrow when it happens.
Oh, the Learning We Have Done!
It’s hard to believe we are coming up on our 2 year anniversary of going full-time. We have learned so many lessons about the full-time RV lifestyle that we want to share. Even when you think you have it figured out, there is always a way to improve it or do it differently. Some of the things we have learned include:
- What we should have kept (and had to re-purchase, something I really hate to do!) and what we really didn’t need after all.
- Hooking up and unhooking at our destination (all while trying to stay happily married – backing a trailer while the other directs is a true test!)
- Prepping the RV for travel days (several lessons learned the hard way when we got where we were going!)
- How to organize everything to not only fit, but be functional (I’m a little obsessed!)
- Understanding that this is a marathon, not a sprint! (This was a really hard one at first.)
- Figuring out how to stay fit when you no longer have a gym membership …I have a few rolls (and not on my dinner plate) to show for that one!
- Learning to cook in a ”Barbie” kitchen (at least a micro version of what I was used to) again.
- And the myriad of other things you don’t think about …until you find yourself in the middle of it!
